Vtg F B Rogers Ornate Silver Plate Seven Piece Coffee and Tea Service

  

This silver plate coffee and tea service was a prized possession of my mother's. She did not have many fine possessions, but she actually won this set in a drawing when a new grocery store opened in our neighborhood in 1965.

I have continued to take good care of it since I inherited it to honor her memory. This F B Rogers silver plate hollow ware set (Style 2462) consists of a very large ornate footed tray with sturdy handles, a tall coffee pot, a shorter tea pot, and matching creamer and sugar bowl. Unfortunately, the handle on the sugar bowl has broken.

I have tried to have it repaired by a jeweler, but because it is not sterling, it cannot be soldered back on. However, for display purposes, it could be glued in place.

Because of this break, I will include an additional cream and sugar set which could be used for practical purposes. I have kept the set polished so that it still shines, unlike many I have seen for sale.

There are a few minor scratches. I see that in the photos, my husband's dark shirt is reflected in the silver, making the two pots appear dark, but they are not. The additional cream and sugar I will include are much older than the Rogers set. I'm not sure of the brand of this pair, but on the bottom, there is a crown followed by an'S' and a shield, with the works, "Silver on copper" printed beneath.

The handles are very similar to the other set, so they blend well. The measurements of the larger pieces are included in the photos.
