VINTAGE Sheffield Silver Plated Large Gallery Tea Drinks Serving Butlers Tray

  

A magnificent vintage English silver plated (on copper) gallery tray, made in Sheffield. Perfect for serving afternoon tea or pre-dinner drinks - all you need is a butler to carry it into your elegant drawing room! Oval in shape, measuring 18 x 13 inches and standing roughly two and a half inches tall. The pierced serpentine gallery rail has cutout grab handles at either end and the plateau is beautifully chased with a classic rococo pattern of scrolls surrounding a blank central cartouche. The tray sits on four bun feet for that extra touch of grandeur.

Offered for sale in excellent vintage condition. It sits perfectly flat - no wobble - and the surface shows just minor signs of wear from use and polishing over the years. I sell a lot of these trays and this is a lovely example that has obviously been very well cared for. Freshly cleaned and polished to a good shine but with some patination left on the gallery rail, although this could be completely removed with further cleaning. Will be very well packed.
