VINTAGE 1960s International Silver Castleton 6-Piece Tea Coffee Set Gold Tray

  
This vintage 1960s silver plate with gold trim tea set belonged to my mother. She very much enjoyed using it for special company or special occasions! It has not been used since the 1980s and has been stored in our dining room hutch.

It is a complete 6-piece set that includes all original pieces: oversized butler tray, tea pot, coffee pot, covered sugar bowl, creamer and pedestal compote. Please note that the set has not been polished and that one of the pieces requires repair.

There is age-related tarnishing that you will see in the pictures. Made by International Silver Company, an American company formed in 1898 by a collection of independent New England silversmiths, the name of the pattern is CASTLETON. Elegant in its simplicity, with beautiful lines and regal gold embellishments, the set is stately and impressive, whether it's displayed in your home or enjoyed with guests. All of the pieces feature the Castleton design elements.

Each piece is marked with the company name, collection pattern and item number. The International Silver Company silver plate set includes Castleton items 801, 802, 803, 804, 805 and 807.

BUTLER TRAY WITH HANDLES (807): Measuring just over 24" in length from handle to handle and slightly more than 15" wide, this is a substantial tray right out of Downton Abbey! Weighing about 4 pounds, it features gorgeous filigree detail and elegant scrollwork etched on its surface.

It perfectly holds all of the pieces in the set. TEAPOT (802): Standing 11" tall and measuring 10.5" from the handle to the spout, the teapot is the primary piece in any proper set. Weighing just under 2 pounds, it has an oversized handle that makes lifting it a breeze and a long, wide spout for easy pouring.

NOTE: This piece does require repair, as the lid's hinge is detached (see picture). COFFEE POT (801): Standing 12" tall and measuring 9.75" from the handle to the spout, the coffee pot perfectly pairs with the set's teapot. Weighing just over 2 pounds, it has an oversized handle that makes lifting it a breeze and a tall spout for easy pouring.

NOTE: This piece does require repair, as the base has detached (see picture). SUGAR BOWL (803): Standing slightly more than 6" tall and measuring 6.25" from handle to handle, this 2-piece sugar bowl weighs about 12 ounces. NOTE: This piece does require repair, as the top finial is missing (see picture). CREAMER (804): Standing 6" tall and measuring 4.5" from spout to handle, this piece weighs about 9 ounces.

PEDESTAL BOWL (805): Standing 3" tall and measuring 4.75" in diameter, this piece weighs about 6 ounces. It is a multi-purpose compote and can be used for cookies, chocolate, sugar cubes, sugar-substitute packets, etc. Please take a minute to check out our other listed items.
