Victorian Ornate Sheffield Silver Plate Tea Set with Bird Finials 4 Piece Set

  
This is a fabulous antique Sheffield silver plate tea set with three dimensional raptor finials. The set consists of a coffee pot, a tea pot, a creamer and a sugar. The quality of the workmanship is excellent featuring an exquisite repousse floral and scroll work motif. Much of the embossed work is also hand chased. On the top of the two pots there is a three dimensional hawk or eagle standing on a branch with leaves; all incredibly detailed with hand chasing.

The handles have ivory stops in them to keep the handle from getting too hot. The two pots have hinged lids which are in perfect working order. Each piece stands on a wide pedestal style base which keeps them sturdy. The set was made by Martin Hall & Co.

One cartouche is engraved with a standing lion holding a bulls head and the other one has never been monogrammed or engraved. My photos do not begin to show the beauty of this set. This is an oversized set and makes quite a statement.

Size: Coffee pot 12 1/2" tall by 10" wide, teapot 9"tall by 10" wide, creamer 6 3/4" tall by 5" wide, sugar 6 1/2" tall by 8 1/2" wide. Condition: Overall e xcellent condition, t he creamer has been slightly over polished in two spots that can be seen in our photos. Marks: GPGS, M H & Co.
