Rare! Vintage Cubist Art Deco Coffee Tea Service Set Bauhaus Gio Ponti Sabattini

  
CUBIST ART DECO BAUHAUS MODERN SILVER PLATE TEA SET MCM. Reminiscent of the modernist avant-garde Bauhaus works as well as the Italian and French modernists of the 1930's (Gio Ponti, Maison Desny, Peter Muller-Munk's Normandie pitcher, Jean Puiforcat), this stunning and rare set would fit right in a Rob Mallet-Stevens (or Mies Van Der Rohe) interior! Its sleek geometry is of the Lino Sabattini school and the architectural forms from Swid-Powell, Starck, KEM Weber. And very reminiscent of Henri Bouhilhet's "Geometrie" set for Christofle from the 1970s. Manufactured by Alcor/ Spain -designer unknown, though a dealer suggests this may be the work of a well-known (uncredited) designer. In our years of obsessively collecting Art Deco / Moderne tea sets, we have only come across this as a FULL four-piece set a total of three other times and only one other time in this condition! On 1st Dibs a few years back and it was snapped up in an instant! So if one is seeking the IDEAL set to accent a sleek tabletop. Or the PERFECT and RARE holiday gift for the modernist collector in one's life, look no further! And grab it while you can! CONDITION: Some wear, commensurate with age and use. A vintage silver plate set will always benefit from a more thorough polish every now and then. One pot lid is only secured on one end. Not a major issue, but we wish to point out everything we note.
