Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful. Rare French Art Deco Coffee/Tea Service with Samovar by ERCUIS Sirius Pattern. A complete and original six-piece heavily silverplated coffee and tea service, with a rare matching samovar/hot water pourer from 1934 the French Art. Deco period, created by the master silversmith ERCUIS, who has crafted elegant tableware for over a century and for many of the ocean liners of the 30s such as the Nomandie and the France.

This pattern is known as Sirius and was an art deco icon with its geometric ziggurat lids and produced in a limited edition until 1939. The set is composed of six pieces. The samovar or hot water dispenser has three parts. The pot that is balanced on a sophisticated holder, allowing water to be poured out by tilting it forward and the alcohol/spirit burner with its original wick. It measures 10 high in all. The pot measures 7 inches high. The coffee pot which is 7 ¼ inches high and 4 3/8 inches in diameter at the top.

The tea pot which is 5 ½ inches high and 5 ¼ inches in diameter at the top. The lidded sugar bowl that is 4 inches high and 3 ¾ inches in diameter. The cream or milk jug which is 3 inches high and 2 5/8 inches in diameter.

The original tray - rarely available -measures 21 3/8 inches long by 13 5/8 inches wide with its ziggurat handles. The hot water pourer, coffee and tea pots have hinged lids that are very solid. All of the pieces handles are in dark wood, probably mahogany and all are heavily silverplated with no loss of plating.

The sugar bowl has a minuscule pinprick on a side and all pieces except the tray, have very light traces of surface wear. The center of the tray has a few more surface traces of use, understandable since the sets other pieces were placed on it. All pieces are stamped and hallmarked on the bottom. The set has been diligently taken care of and all of the interiors are very clean, ready for use. The attention to detail is exceptional. All of the knobs have a cut-out pattern with a wooden center piece highlighted by a silverplated top knob. The attachment parts of the handles are all geometrically decorated and are solidly attached.

It is an exceptional coffee/tea service especially with its matching samovar - and a complete set very rarely becomes available since they are traditionally passed down for generations. Very solid, it weighs a total of 15 lbs.
