OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE MADE IN ENGLAND. SILVER ON COPPER, FOOTED COFFEE and TEA SET with the MATCHING RECTANGULAR BUTLER TRAY. Gorgeous Chrysanthemum floral finials on the coffee pot lid, tea pot lid and sugar bowl lid. Also raised Chrysanthemum flowers and multiple other gorgeous patterns in all the pots, the tray border and the tray handles. Heavy, sturdy set, made to last for generations. Old Sheffield Plate, or fused plate as it is sometimes known, (sandwiching copper and silver together) was the first commercially viable method of plating metal. The method was invented by a Sheffield Cutler named Thomas Boulsover in 1743. Sheffield Reproduction means that the pieces are silverplated over copper. The underside of the 5-pc. Coffee and tea set is marked with a standing Lion mark and Sheffield England. The inside of 1 foot on the sugar bowl, creamer bowl and waste bowl is marked 24. The inside of 1 coffee pot foot is marked 24/1, the inside of 1 teapot foot is marked 24/2. The underside of the tray is marked with a standing Lion mark and Sheffield England. The underside border is marked 22/2. The butler tray features 4 round toe feet, 2 large, sturdy handles, the surface area features hammered patterns of florals, Acanthus leaves and more, with a vacant cartouche in the center. Coffee pot 9"H finial included x 10"W across, handle & spout included. Tea pot 8 1/2"H finial included x 12"W across, handle & spout included. Creamer 4"H at the handle x 6 1/2"W across, handle & spout included.

Lidded sugar bowl 5"H finial included x8"W across, handles included. Waste bowl 3 1/2"H x 5"W across. Rectangular butler tray measures 26"L handles included, within the handles it measures 22 1/2"L.

17"W and stands 2"H on the table at the handles. Total set weighs 19 lbs. Set and butler tray are in amazing condition, with gentle wear commensurate with age. Tiny dent in the center of the tray and scratches from moving the pieces around during use.
