This circa 1869 3-pc tea set was manufactured by the Chicago Silver Plate Co, and is rare and beautiful. The Chicago Silver Plate Co was founded in 1869, and subsequently relocated to Aurora, Il where it was rebranded the Aurora Silver Plate Co.
The move was fortuitous, since the move saved the company from the 1871 Great Chicago Fire. We do want to note several dents on the teapot, which we believe a competent silversmith can roll out. Other than that, the plating looks to be in excellent condition, and the backstamps are sharp. We especially love the cast repousse pattern, and the bold spout is perfect! Overall the teapot measures approximately 6" tall by 9" wide. The covered sugar is 5" tall by 7" wide, and the creamer is approximately 3-1/2" tall by 6" wide.
