Birks Silver Gadroon & Shell Tray Tea Coffee Set Bakelite Handles Nut Finials

  

It has been stored in silver cloth for the last 60 years! The set was probably displayed, not used (my English grandmother preferred "china" tea). The pattern is Gadroon & Shell.

The set is HEAVY silver plate - Rideau was Birks & Sons high end silver plate. The coffee pot and tea pot have BAKELITE handles and RARE NUT FINIALS on the lids!

The set weighs 12 lb, 8 oz. It is hand chased (see photo) - a lot of hand craft work went into making the service. The coffee pot is 9 in tall and the teapot is 6 1/4 in tall, The sugar and creamer are just under 5 in tall. The service was never monogrammed.
