To the finial, around the spout base, also to the handles & legs absolutely breathtaking! Shiny heavy dark patina remains undisturbed as this urn is beautiful in it's unpolished condition. Though this urn can certainly be polished to it's original shiny silver mirror image if so desired. (A lot of muscle hand polishing work, though the results will be very rewarding). A heavy piece this samovar urn is too weighs 5 pounds 10 ounces! There are numbers at the bottom base of the body 1401, and possibly a maker's mark. On the bottom base as well, though so heavily tarnished, not visible unless polished? The spout is marked Hayden patented 1869.There is no obvious silver plate loss detected beneath layer of patina, nor any visible dings or dents. There is a crack to one of the spout handle plastic knobs, though no threat of separation at this time. The spigot does indicate that it is of brass (see photos) and a lovely contrast to the silver plate. There is a slight bend to the finial (slightly tilts to one side), though not overly obvious at all! (It is very important that you do not try to straighten the finial as it will snap off).
The spigot operates perfectly turns easily to release the fluid. Within, and close to stop the fluid flow and does not leak. The original burner pot is missing. However a small dish with tealight candle can be used in place for heat. The interior has very light tarnish or stain though no corrosion/rust or pitting clean!
Light scratches & scuffs all around due to use and age. Overall, this antique samovar urn is considered to be in excellent vintage condition for it's age. Please note that the other tilt pots shown in photos #11 and #12. Are listed on my Page for separate sale SEE!
