Austro Hungarian Etrog Tea Container Antique 19th Century Silver Plate Judaica

  

The maker is very famous and the maker changed his name. 19th or early 20th century. Excellent condition, silver plate is wearing off a bit. Rik was founded in 1895 in the city of Dolne Hamre in the Slowakia region of what was then the Austro-Hungarian empire. It rapidly grew and employed several hundred workers.

It closely collaborated with another company, Krupp-Berndorf in Austria (actually Krupp owned a lot of the Sandrik shares until the early 1920ies). One can find the same cutlery pattern with either a Sandrik or a Krupp mark.

Sandrik cooperated in the 1930ies with well-known designers like Ladislav Sutnar and Bohumil Juznic.
