A stunning silver plated antique samovar or hot water/coffee/tea urn. Its gilded age style (late victorian thru Edwardian period) places it circa late 1880s-very early 1900s (no marks so very difficult to know exact date).
The body is is vase shaped with beautiful proportions and Neo-classic details. Details feature a foliate head finial, substantial curved handles with foliate acanthus leaves attaching the handles to the vase, squared layered pedestal base with ball feet and bright cut details throughout. The finial on the working spigot features a palmet or shell form. The Samovar is 18" tall to the top of lid and 10 1/2" wide at handles, weighs a little over 5lb. And holds nearly a gallon of liquid. This urn is in excellent condition with no damage to plating or repairs. The interior has a few small marks but other than that perfect. An impressive piece for the dining room from which to serve coffee or tea or mulled wine or cider during the holidays. Please review photos and feel free to ask questions.
