This set has been in my family for 4 generations. I inherited it via my mother, from my great grandmother, who was English. I have had this in my display case for many years. It is time to let someone else enjoy it! The tray in the first photo is not included.
The tea set is ornately decorated everywhere. There are amazing Figural Spouts with Eagle Head Finials.
The pouring part of the spout is a bird's head, and at the base of the spout is a ferocious looking bearded face that appears to have horns. The feet are also very nice and Ornately decorated.
The tea set is in very fine original condition showing very little to no wear. The are no dings, crack, or repairs. The Handles are also nice and strong with no looseness or movement of any kind. I was stunned a few years ago while watching "Downton Abbey", to see that a tea set almost identical to this was featured as Lady Violet's, the dowager countess.
I was able to find this photo that I have attached. The makers mark (club with 3 stars) shows this to be made by Barker Brothers of Birmingham, founded in 1860.
The letters "EP BM" mean Electro Plated Brittania Metal, a generic mark used by some firms. Each piece has the same marks. As you can see, the set includes both Teapot and Coffee Pot. Each piece is really heavy. The coffee pot measures 10 1/2 tall, weighs 2 lb.
11 oz, and holds 48 ounces (6 cups). The tea pot is 8 tall, holds 36 ounces, and weighs 2 lb. The sugar pot weighs 1 lb.
And and creamer weighs 11 ounces. As you know, you can only have 12 photos for a listing.
