Antique English Sheffield Silver-plate Coffee & Tea Set from Palatine Club, England. My Grandmother loved the ceremony of serving tea and/or coffee to company.
She had many different sets of all different patterns and designs. This is a beautiful four piece coffee & tea set from a British club called the Palatine Club meaning of the palace. It was made by the English silversmith company. Mappin Webb that dates back to 1775, catering to affluent British Society. We believe that this set was a gift to my Grandmother by a member of the Palatine Club, an aristocratic club in London. The set has been beautifully preserved in its original oak wood keeping case, lined with blue felt. It is hallmarked on each piece as Mappin and Webb, as well as on the carrying case signifying Mappin and Webb Manufacturing.
The Palatine Club insignia is discreetly etched on each piece. The exceptional fine craftsmanship and detail are carried through on each piece. We have had this set restored to near perfection, and it is in excellent antique condition. It would certainly make a lovely gift or addition to your own home.
