Antique Atkin Brothers Silver Plate Biscuit Tea Barrel Tin Box 7.5 H Excellent Condition. We are pleased to offer for sale this very attractive Biscuit Box by Atkin Brothers, which is marked with their silver plate mark HA EA FA. It has an integral tray with a pierced rim and beaded edge, which is supported on four ball and claw feet. It bears a chevron design pattern around the circumference with an ornately decorated vacant, circular cartouche to the front.
Atkin Brothers were Sheffield Silversmiths. They were the sons of Henry Atkin. Trade catalogues date the business from 1750, though this probably refers to Henry's activities. In 1853, his sons registered a silver mark as Atkin Bros and occupied Truro Works, Matilda Street.
Their catalogues show a vast collection of cutlery, tableward and domestic items of very good quality, both in silver and silver plate.
