Beautiful Antique 3 Piece Silverplate Tea Set. Dating from 1881 to 1897. Made by Charles Edward Nixon. From England, marked CEN 1080 on all pieces.
One Silverplated Teapot, Creamer & Open Sugar Bowl. All matching pattern with the same design.
Each piece bears the same stamp from the maker Charles Edward Nixon of Sheffield, England. The sugar bowl & creamer show the remains of gold plated interiors. The teapot measures 5 1/2" tall x 9" long across the top x 3 3/4" long across the bottom and 4 1/2" wide. The creamer is 2 1/2" tall x 4 1/4" long across the top x 2" long across the base and 2 1/2" wide. The sugar bowl is 3 1/2" tall x 6" long across the handles x 2 3/4" long across the base and 3 1/2" wide. Together they weigh nearly 3 lbs! A well cared for set, this has a striking and very lovely presence with its ruffled rims and expert ornate floral repousse work. The teapot handle has two bone inserts.
The teapot is for small for two person service. All three pieces have a white glow to them. I received this sometime ago in an inheritance and I never used it. I would love to pass this beautiful set on to the next adoring collector! There are no issues to report, see photos. There are no dings, repairs or scratches.
The hinge on the teapot lid is tight and level and all original. The set could use a polishing with a silver cloth but I will leave the polishing up to you as I'm not sure what is best. This set is in nice usable or collectible condition and is top quality.
