This is for a very large ornate Silver plated tray that measures 27 inches wide from handle to handle and 23 inches without the handles. It measures 17.5 inches wide x 2 inches off the table as it sits on 4 decorative feet. The tray is marked on the bottom with the makers initials and #134 and EPC (Silver over Electroplated Copper). The pattern is called Charles Howard Collins. It is very decorated with etching on the center of the tray and large raised scrolls and shells, cameo type decorations on the handles and framing the piece. It has no dents but does have less then average missing silver plate on some of the raised areas and on the etching. It is not obvious until further inspection and no silver plate is lifted anywhere. Has minor surface scratches, none that are deep. It is such a large and very heavy piece that needs a special place to be displayed and will surely be loved for many more years to come. Blackinton company operated in Meriden, CT, what follows is a brief history of the company: This piece was made by the W & S Blackinton Co.

The Blackinton brothers founded this company in 1865. They specialized in gold jewelry. At this time, silver plate holloware was introduced into production.

There is no date I can find on this pattern but would date it to their early production dates due to the craftsmanship and weight of the item, making it from the 1940-50's.
