For your consideration we are pleased to offer this stunning heavy repousee coffee/tea set by Barbour Brothers Silver Company. Hammered by hand from the inside to create an ornamental relief design featuring cherubs, federalistic scallop shell and floral detailing, the craftsmanship involved in the creation of this set is incedible. Dated to the 1890's and in overall exquisite condition with no denting or plate loss found, the shine and luster of the silverplate is gorgeous with very little visible surface scratching seen.

A prior repair has been noted where the handle of the sugar basket attaches to the bowl, and light scratching can be seen on the surface of the tray with wear appropriate for history and use on all of the pieces. Please refer to the photos as they are a descriptive part of this listing. Additional photos are available upon your request. Rarely have we come across a set of this vintage in such extraordinary condition. Truly a once in a blue moon find. About Barbour Brothers Silver Co. From the Connecticut Historical Society. But the brothers were operating in Hartford by no later than 1889, since the Geer's city directory for that year contains the listing, Barbour Bros. Market Street, located downtown, has been altered greatly since then. In 1892, a decade or so after its formation, the brothers' original partnership was succeeded by the Barbour Silver Co. Barbour Silver became one of the first silver firms absorbed by the International Silver Co. When that concern was established in 1898. We welcome your questions and are delighted to answer!
