Christopher Dresser (1834-1904) Traveling Silver Plate Tea Set Lot 4089

  
Made in the late 1800's to early 1900's, by Christopher Dresser. Dresser was inspired by the exhibits Japan sent in the 1862 International Exhibition in Paris, and when he visited Japan in 1877. He introduced many Japanese elements into his designs at this time.

This style of tea set was one of those inspirations he brought back from Japan. All of the pieces from the traveling tea set fit neatly into the leather clad carrying box. The teapot and hot water pot have woven bamboo over the handles. Also includes tripod, burner, oil flask, sugar bowl, creamer pitcher, tongs and a spoon. All are electroplate base metal with a gold wash.

Also included are 2 Royal Worcester Cup and saucers in brown glaze. Marked: RdNo 5275 / EPBM / 2925. Measures: Case is 7.5"H x 11.5"W x 5.5D. Condition: Very good condition - One spoon and tea caddy are missing, tongs have been replace with EPNS tongs.

Some gold wash has worn off. Case shows wear to edges, corners and handle.
