A beautiful Sheffield silver plated tea and/or coffee set, with delightfully fluid lines in the Art Nouveau mode, made by Edwin Blyde of Orange Street Sheffield around the 1910-15 period. The main pots sport ebonised handles with matching knobs, the sugar and creamer silver plated scrolled handles in the traditional manner. To the front each piece is emblazoned with a very attractive monogram as shown in the relevant image and a very neat registration number RD629747 just above the foot line. It is in very good condition for its years, without structural fault and with a gleaming, intact and ample silver cover apart from some dotting to the inner base of the creamer as shown in the inset picture, (the price reflects this). The other pots have but minimal signs of use with some light staining to the inner of the teapot and some very feint surface signs of sugar touch, and patination to the recesses to the inner sugar basin.
The ebonised handles are still black but are slightly lighter where they have been handled (this shows in some lights), but they are both still securely fixed within the mounts. A superbly fashioned tea set the lines of which play wonderfully with the light and the reflections of its environs. Makers marks: please see image.
