Antique Silver on Hammered Copper Repousse Tea Set With Matching Plateau Tray

  

Century silver over hammered copper repousse tea, or coffee, set on matching plateau serving tray. A beautiful and unique addition to your interior design. The re are no maker's marks to be found on any of the pieces in this set, I can find no others like it on the Internet, and so the maker is unknown.

The entire set is made of silver plated hammered copper and the frame of the thick plate glass mirror is plated brass. The wild roses, buds, and vines are all repousse hammered from the interior.

The plateau tray is 27 x 14 inches and the mirror surface is 20 x 10 inches. The teapot is 11-3/8 inches tall to the tip of the handle x 10 inches from the tip of the spout to the outside of the handle. The creamer and sugar are 4 inches tall. Very good used condition with. Wear to the silver plating from use and polishing to the extent the copper is showing through in many places.

The interior of the teapot has tarnish, white film of old dried polish, and requires thorough cleaning before use. The mirror is fogged, there are several scratches in the glass, and newer enamel backing was applied to prevent further deterioration. One of the mirror frame retaining screws is loose in it's mounting. The handle of the teapot is slightly loose at the insulators. There are no broken joints or seams in the set.
